Not everyone deserves your forgiveness

Every year, during the Days of Awe, I make a practice of actively letting go of resentments and baggage I’ve been carrying. I forgive people who might have intentionally or unintentionally hurt me and I ask forgiveness of those I may have hurt. This year, my child and I had an interesting conversation about what I’ve always found to be a very healing practice. “What if I don’t want to forgive people who have hurt me?” We were headed to Sunday School, so I told them to ask the rabbi about it....
